               M.E.L.T. 2019 Trip

The 2019 travel four-person team from M.E.L.T., Malawi Early Literacy Team, wishes to thank the many people who prayed for us, held an interest in our work, and donated to this project.  We traveled to Malawi from May 30- June 15 where we continued our work with primary teachers and their students in the Northern Region.

This trip had a rigorous itinerary:

*The 5,000 Rotary Readers published by M.E.L.T. were delivered.

*The newly renovated central library was re-opened in Mzuzu, double the size and complete with a professional area for our teachers.

*A professional development workshop was held with 27 teachers in attendance.  The Teacher’s Edition we published to guide the use of the new Rotary Readers was the focus.

*Five new schools were added to M.E.L.T. in the Mzimba Region.

*A Satellite library was added in the Mzimba Region.

*Materials were added to the satellite library at Chivumu Primary.

*We made numerous school visits where we: laughed, cried, sang, and participated in many classroom activities.

On behalf of the M.E.L.T. Board I thank you all from the bottom of my heart.  We are

making an important difference in the education of these children and their teachers! Please consider booking a presentation from M.E.L.T. to see photos and hear stories from this remarkable trip.
